The result: a perfectly harmonised system that is the most compact in its performance class
“Tomorrow’s automation systems should be smaller, more powerful, and also more cost-effective and safer. The continued development of industrial production is giving rise to seemingly contradictory requirements both for us and our customers,” explains Martin Flunkert, Weidmüller’s industry manager for device manufacturers. “Together with customers like LTI Motion, we are facing this challenge and are making a decisive contribution to mastering it with our perfectly fitting connections.”
LTI Motion stands out as a pioneer of electronic drive and automation technology with more than 40 years of experience. Complex drive and motion tasks are solved with a wide and innovative product range and with extensive know-how. The LTI Motion GmbH is part of the automation business segment of the international technology group Körber.
With its SystemOne CM, LTI Motion has achieved a radical increase in integration at all levels: from the safety controller in the PLC and a 500 W switch-mode power unit in the power supply unit to the use of double and triple axis controllers. The servo drive with a rated current of 1.5 to 32 Amps combines a high level of miniaturisation with more power. One important reason why it is the most compact system in its performance class is the use of the Weidmüller BV/SV 7.62HP hybrid plug-in connector.
Weidmüller plug-in connectors prove their worth in LTI Motion’s SystemOne CM. With a width of 55 mm, the servo drive needs very little space in the control cabinet
From the first ideas to series production, the specialists from Weidmüller were always available to provide direct personal advice. Due to the rapid delivery of the design-in patterns, we were able to directly test the custom-fit connection for our servo drive in the application.
Minimum space requirements with high performance components
“Not least thanks to the characteristics of the hybrid plug-in connector, we can achieve a 75 percent space saving and therefore a decisive advantage compared with other systems presently on the market. At the same time, we are able to offer our customers the all-round user-friendliness of the 3-in-1 solution of power, signals, and pluggable EMC shielding,” comments Patric Gessner, Product Manager and Project Leader at LTI Motion.
The patented pluggable EMC shield connector, which ensures face-to-face and secure shielding connection to the housing with only one plugging action, replaces many individual work steps for the end user and saves valuable time and costs during service work. Errors during installation are also avoided.
Furthermore, based on the requirements of device manufacturers, Weidmüller has developed an adjustable “pusher” (actuation lever on the plug-in connector to keep the contact point open) so that the hybrid plug-in connector can be connected in the most confined spaces without special tools or the otherwise often necessary “third hand”.
Compactness has been increased yet further with the use of other Weidmüller plug-in power connectors, such as the BVFL 7.62HP with middle flange. The end user also benefits from the highly convenient “one cable solution”. Connecting the compact servo drive to the field via the plug-in hybrid connector and hybrid cable is simplicity itself.
A partnership that creates connections
“From the first ideas to series production, the specialists from Weidmüller were always available to provide direct personal advice,” recalls Gessner. “Due to the rapid delivery of the design-in patterns, we were able to directly test the custom-fit connection for our servo drive in the application.”
