Germanischer Lloyd has granted GL approval to Weidmüller’s family of robust switch-mode power supplies 'PRO-M'. The reliable 'PRO-M' units can now be deployed in national and international shipbuilding projects, ship refurbishments, in 'marine engineering structures' as well as the offshore sector such as in wind turbine systems. They have been approved to 'Environmental Category C, EMC 1', which means the 'PRO-M' family is also approved for installation in bridge applications. Competitor units mostly just have EMC 2 class approvals; there is either no EMC 1 approval or it is available only as an option. By contrast Weidmüller’s 'PRO-M' family of switch-mode power supplies has EMC 1 approval as standard and are labelled with the GL logo.
