Third Weidmüller Connectivity Symposium offers platform for expert discussion

Key topics: decentralized power, data and signal management as well as industrial ethernet

Detmold, September 28, 2006 | Leading experts in the fields of research, development, strategic knowledge and technology management in industry and application-oriented knowledge processing are meeting today in Detmold, Germany, to discuss key technological trends and changes in connection technology against the backdrop of globalization. The forum for this international meeting of experts is provided by the Weidmüller Connectivity Symposium, which is taking place from September 28 to 29, 2006, for the third time. This year’s keynote topics are trend-setting solutions for the decentralization of power, data and signal management as well as innovative applications from the fields of industrial ethernet and wireless technologies. At the same time, participants will be considering the significance of new and targeted development concepts for the future of companies.

"The global market for connectivity technology is changing faster and more radically than ever. This offers excellent opportunities for European, and in particular German, companies to develop new markets with innovative, high-level technology. The challenge facing these companies is to trace and identify those trends which justify entrepreneurial investments and which offer customers a genuine and sustainable added value in the field of automation. Open and intensive communication with customers and external partners is the prerequisite for achieving this goal. For the third time now, the Weidmüller Connectivity Symposium offers an excellent international and inter-company communication platform," says Thomas H. Hagen, CEO & President of the Weidmüller Group.

With particular focus on Germany as a location for business, the symposium participants will also be discussing what impact globalization has had on economic conditions for European companies. Other topics include the growing importance of information and communication technologies and whether the current path toward a global information and knowledge society is in line with the sustainable development resolutions made at the Rio World Conference.

In fiscal 2005, Weidmüller generated sales of € 385 million and currently employs some 2,600 people world-wide.
