Environmental Protection
The health of our employees is paramount. So is ensuring our products have a minimal or no detrimental impact on our environment.
To help our customers reduce expenses and meet their environmental goals, we take steps to make our products green:
• Value sustainable design. Our engineers work to improve efficiency as our products evolve
• Manage waste responsibly
• Comply with standards. We follow directives such as Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) 2002/96/EC and REACH
• Expect supplier standards. We encourage our suppliers to do the same.
To help maintain the health of our employees and the environment, we also work to reduce our own carbon emissions and energy use through:
• Reduce emissions.
• Reduce energy use.
• Make green choices.
Our policies are documented in our Environment Management System which is DIN EN ISO 14001-certified. The following provides an overview of two environmental directives whose implementation is of highest priority for Weidmüller.
RoHS
The restriction of lead and five other potentially hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment is specified by the EU-Directive 2002/95/EC.
REACH
The European Chemical Regulation REACH stands for registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals.
