Weidmüller receives IRIS Certificate

IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) is the name given to the new international quality standard for the rolling stock industry. Weidmüller completed the certification process carried out by DEKRA Certification GmbH in accordance with IRIS specifications achieving ‘above-average’ good results in the process. For Weidmüller this certificate opens up access to the markets encompassing the entire railroad traffic business. In seeking to achieve greater stability at the interfaces within the IRIS supply chain the IRIS standard focuses primarily on contract, project and supplier management. This requires special proof of life-cycle costs, configuration management, processes/procedures guaranteeing reliability, availability, maintainability and safety.

Detmar Saalmann, Global Industry Manager Transportation, Weidmüller Interface, explains: ‘In addition to the management standards DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and 14001:2004 we have now for the first time successfully achieved the railway industry’s new IRIS standard (International Railway Industry Standard) with ‘above-average' good results in a joint auditing process encompassing our four locations: Weidmüller KSF Service GmbH & Co. KG (Detmold), Thüringische Weidmüller GmbH (Wutha-Farnroda), Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. KG (Detmold) and Weidmüller GmbH & Co. KG (Detmold).’
