Communication Electronics

The business unit Communication Electronic focuses on delivering a wide portfolio of products for Industrial Ethernet applications in factory automation and shipbuilding, well complemented by an equally excellent range of Sensor-Actuator Interface (SAI) products.

The encouraging high double-digit growth of this young business field proves that the market regards our offering of industrial communication electronics as an important addition to our Electrical Connectivity and Functional Electronics product and service range. It is the combination of these separate product portfolios and their respective core competencies which enables us to supply solutions for applications requiring a holistic approach, as opposed to a pure component-based solution. A holistic approach in this case means that we accompany the customer through the entire process as a technology partner – from in-depth consultation to network design to product selection or product development.

At our Integration and Application Laboratory we test and approve the hardware and software for such solutions regarding compatibility and integration capability with the customer's control system (PLC) or other network participants (devices).

Weidmüller has thus made the transition from a pure component supplier to a partner for custom-tailored solutions based on the interplay between system components for electrical connectivity and the transmission, conditioning and processing of power, signals and data in industrial environments
