Power Supplies

Transformers and power supplies are important links in the supply of power to automation systems. They are the core of each and every switchgear cabinet.

In the supply of power to electronic modules cabinet a control voltage of 24 V DC has become generally established around the world as the power supply for all electric modules. But other voltages are still in use. The power supply must be chosen with extreme care, because it is crucial for the reliable functioning of all the components it supplies.

Over many years Weidmüller´s power supplies have proven themselves in the supply of power to electronic modules. They are CE certified and comply with the requirements of DIN EN 50081-1 and DIN EN 50082-2 (EN 61000-6-2 with effect from 1st April 2002). This means that they can be used in adverse industrial environments, small-scale industrial installations and also in residential areas.

Weidmüller power supplies can be used in restricted spaces due to their compact design and small width. This saves space in the switch cabinet and reduces costs.

Our power supplies carry international approvals for worldwide use in many different applications. They are used in mechanical engineering, industrial automation, systems engineering, the power industry, production lines and building technology.

Switched-mode power supplies

Switchmode power supplies in the ConnectPower series are suitable for universal use, thanks to their variable voltage input range and can be used for industrial applications and in building automation.

Weidmüller´s switchmode power supplies offer many advantages:

  • Interference - suppressed to DIN EN 55022 Class B
  • Satisfy the requirements for safety extra low voltages (SELV)
  • produce 12 W to 300 W
  • Electronic short-circuit control on the output side
  • Can be connected in parallel to increase power or for redundancy purposes
  • Sinusoidal current input from the mains supply by Power factor correction (Power Factor Correction)

Unregulated power supplies CompactPower
Compact power supplies are important links in the supply of power to controls. Transformers act as isolating element between the input and output circuit. Weidmüller’s transformer power supplies satisfies the higher safety requirements of DIN EN 61558 and they can be used for generation of safety extra low voltage (SELV).

  • Rated voltage of ~230 V ± ~15 V or ~400 V ± ~15 V, 50/60 Hz
  • Reliable shortcircuit and overload protection in the output
  • Keyhole mounting simplifies assembly and saves time
  • Snap-on fixing for 35 mm DIN rails for devices up to 144 Watt

DC/DC Converter

DC/DC converter are intended in particular for the decentralized power supply of circuits, assemblies and modules. DC voltage converter are often required for emergency generators
to supply electrical devices from batteries or other DC systems. It is possible, with the help of a DC/DC converter, to supply both sides of analogue coupling modules without neutralising the galvanic separation of the modules. Weidmüller DC/DC converter are offered in rail mountable enclosures.

Electronic fuse WAVEGUARD

The technical characteristics of switched-mode power supply units mean that they either cannot supply a dynamic output current or can only do so within defined limits.
Triggering conventional management circuit breakers and not sure of melting fuses since through this no longer enough performance at the disposal is ordered. A selective electronic protection eliminates negative crossways influences on parallel current paths and safeguards and switches only the faulty circles off specifically. This leads to a high plant availability and the fault diagnosis reduces in the plants getting more and more complex on a minimum.
